The Register exists so a household can distinguish a familiar hum, a corrected label, a disputed silence, and a sound worth reporting.

Laboratory measurements become meaningful only when repeated under ordinary domestic conditions.
No acoustic classification requires opening a housing, approaching a blade, or leaning into steam.

The Register may classify and publish appliance sound behavior, correct its own records, and issue acoustic label notices. It does not certify electrical safety, repair appliances, or mediate arguments with neighbors.
Industry declarations are marked separately until independent observation confirms them.
