National Register of Domestic Appliance Frequencies

Mandate, history, offices, governance, and the people who listen on purpose.
CHARTER11-B2026
National domestic appliance frequency laboratory

We keep ordinary noise on the public record.

The Register exists so a household can distinguish a familiar hum, a corrected label, a disputed silence, and a sound worth reporting.

01

Public by default

Sound passports, methods, corrections, and recall notices are available without a manufacturer login.

02

Listen at home

Laboratory measurements become meaningful only when repeated under ordinary domestic conditions.

03

Safety before curiosity

No acoustic classification requires opening a housing, approaching a blade, or leaning into steam.

Record authority

The Register may classify and publish appliance sound behavior, correct its own records, and issue acoustic label notices. It does not certify electrical safety, repair appliances, or mediate arguments with neighbors.

Industry declarations are marked separately until independent observation confirms them.
